How did PSB initiate?
If you live in Singapore or have visited the country you know what it is like to stay and have an education in this country. And PSB Academy is one of the famous educational institutes that offers the best higher education.
The National Productive Center started in Nineteen sixty-four under the Economic development board in Singapore. This institute started to enhance the knowledge and skills of Singapore employees to cater to the needs of the accelerating economy. And in Nineteen Seventy-Two, they initiated the National Productivity Board (NPB). The main goal of the board is to implement Japanese labour management practices and productivity concepts.
In Nineteen Eighty-Seven the building shifted to a new building in the training city with modern facilities. With time, the responsibilities piled up. And a new division named Institute of Productive training (IPT) emerged in Nineteen Eighty-Eight. This division was a Management Services Supervisory Development Division.
PSB Academy foundation
NPB and SISIR (Singapore Institute of Standards and Industrial Research) got connected in Nineteen Ninety-Six. And it became PSB which stands for Singapore Productivity and Standards Board. Later on, IPT became PSB Institution of Productivity Training. This organization is the pioneer to build an outstanding Singaporean workforce.
The first postgraduate program offered by this institute was Master of Business Administration with The University of Nottingham, the UK in Two Thousand. The organization corporatized in Two Thousand One and went for a name change. That is what we know now as PSB Academy.
In Two Thousand Six, it became a private education institute. The facility moved to the venue known as Delta campus in Two Thousand Six. The Academy offered various certificates, diplomas, degrees and masters programs collaborating with international universities.
In Two Thousand Seventeen, the Delta campus got expanded and became a City campus. The area is a hundred thousand square feet with all the modern facilities. The delta campus relocated under the name STEM campus with fifty thousand square feet in Two Thousand Eighteen.
Today PSB Academy is known as “The Future Academy” welcoming international students and creating a multinational culture with the campus. The Academy offers nearly a hundred programs in different fields.
The Facilities within the campus
The City campus and the Stem campus have different facilities. Basically, the City campus caters for the arts and management programs while the stem campus caters for engineering, science and IT-related programs.
Lecture rooms
While other universities and colleges offer lecture halls, PSB Academy offers lecture theatres. These theatres provide facilities to more than three hundred and fifty students. These large-scale auditoriums have AV equipment and adjustable lighting systems. Also, they have wheelchair accessibility which proves that PSB encourages students who have different abilities as well.
And for a postgraduate student, they offer MBA rooms. These rooms have curved seating which is convenient to have seminar-type discussions. The writable glass panels allow the students to have breakout discussions. And the wireless display technology offers experiences beyond the traditional ways of learning.
There are twenty-nine regular classrooms and a sandbox classroom to do practical learnings. These classrooms and the common areas have writable walls which promote breakdown discussions. Furthermore, the wireless display technology enables opportunities for students to do video conferencing to any place in the world.
Radio and TV studios
PSB Academy has created this facility for the students who choose media and communication as their study pathway. It allows the students the real-life experience in a studio. The students get to learn and practice inside these studios under the guidance of the lecturers. These studios offer the latest media equipment and programs which help the students to get sophisticated knowledge.
Computer Labs
PSB Academy has collaborated with EC-Council which is a cybersecurity training organization. This organization helps the academy to mould experts to grow the cybersecurity sector in Singapore. The computer laboratories are designed in a way that fulfils that need. The spacious labs with the latest computers and fast internet connection allow students to practice what they have to do in the real world.
Engineering labs
These labs have AutoDesk centres. These centres have software and drawing software that helps students to integrate into design processes. It also enables the students to do practical sessions by performing those activities.
Science labs
A student who studies for a degree like biotechnology must have proper facilities to experiment with practical sessions. The science and chemistry labs on the campus have the most commonly used equipment. And all the technology and equipment are the latest ones enabling the students to get real-world experience.
Sports science labs
Sports science is a subject that many students prefer today. The sports science lab in the PSB Academy has VX Sport’s new equipment. Moreover, the 3D cameras in the facility enable the students to understand and analyze 3D motions. The strength condition techniques help the students to understand physiology protocols such as BRUCE.
