If you are a die-hard fan of the Harry Potter franchise or Hermione Granger, you already know how we practically love to “live” in the wizarding world having endless adventures while learning magic far off from our ordinary lives. We are ever so grateful for our heroine J. K. Rowling for breathing all of them to life.
Here, through a series of articles, I’d try to give you some tips on how to feel like your favorite Harry Potter character. As a girl who admires Hermione to the fullest, I thought of starting this series with Hermione.
You don’t have to be at Hogwarts to feel the same as she does, let us take lessons from her and be our best selves. So let’s dive in!
1. Study like Hermione
It doesn’t matter whether you are learning maths instead of Arithmancy and chemistry instead of potions, yet, you can feel equally passionate about the subjects you are taking, by looking at them as Hermione does. Perhaps, you’ll realize that after all, it’s not so hard to turn your everyday subjects into something as fascinating as magic itself!
- Give priority to your studies.
Study hard each day while revising what you’ve learned each day. She has proved how effective it is when it comes to retaining information. Maybe they’ll call you names as “Nerd” but don’t worry, for you will be proud of yourself when you get good grades!
- Ask a lot of questions.
Be curious. Be brave in class and ask questions from your teacher to clarify the points you have doubts of. Don’t mind being laughed at; Solely be brave like Hermione and keep your hand valiantly raised in the class!
- Do background readings.
Don’t be satisfied with just your school textbooks, or the note you’ve been provided with. Be thirsty for knowledge, and you’ll realize how amazing the topics you learn can become!
2. Don’t forget to keep some time to pursue your other passions and hobbies
Being the nerdy girl she is, Hermione makes sure she finds time to be with her friends and to enjoy other things she does. Can you remember how hard she worked for S.P.E.W club by knitting tiny wool hats for elves as well as making badges, but still got the best grades as always? Can you remember how passionate she was about D.A. meetings? While being her usual bookworm-self she never forgets to have a laugh with her friends or to enjoy a walk by the great lake in the prospect of relaxing her mind Like her make sure you appreciate your life while living your other passions.
3. Be there for your friends
No matter how she takes her studies seriously, she never abandoned Harry or Ron when they need her. She was there for Ginny to share her feminine sympathies. If you want to feel like Hermione, have time to be there for your loved ones. Give them strong advice bravely, based on your experience.
4. Be brave!
Always Be brave to stand up for yourself, be brave enough to stand up for your friends. Be brave enough to fight for what you believe in! Hermione knows her standards, her values and lets no one tells her otherwise. When someone insults her or her friends she stands up boldly with her feisty way; she was even daring to slap a boy who insulted her best friend!
I’m not saying that you should go and slap random guys but should know when to stand up tall without hiding behind a curtain.
5. Never let failure stop you from achieving your goals.
When Hermione is resolved on achieving something, she determinedly sticks to that goal. If she fails somehow along the road, she storms her brain for alternatives and tries them fearlessly. Be like her; you will meet many storms along the path, yet keep on sailing your boat through the turbulent sea until you reach your paradise!
6. Don’t be afraid to wear your heart on your sleeve.
She never is afraid to show her affection towards others. May it be a friend, a teacher she shows it without hiding her feelings.
When things get unbearable she cries, and she is never ashamed of it! It takes so much courage to be your true self and to show how you exactly feel without wearing any facades. Let’s be ourselves as Hermione taught us, let others think whatever they want, for we are not born here to please everyone!
7. And finally, read, read and read!
Never stop reading. When you’re in doubt – as she said – ” go to the library.”
Read books on many fascinating subjects. It doesn’t have to be educational. Fall into an eternal reverie while reading fiction, meet new friends inside the pages of those. Build yourself, learn about the world around you through reading.
