Nayana Dehigama – A business magnet
The gentleman of Kingswood, Dr.Nayana Dehigama is a prominent businessman and leading entrepreneur in Sri Lanka. He is the managing director of Epic group of companies which handles more than ten subsidiaries under its name. Nayana Dehigama is an alumnus of Moratuwa University where he graduated with a BSc in Engineering degree. He earned his doctorate rate at the University of Edinburgh in software engineering.
Sri Lankan entrepreneur of the year
He was adjusted as the Sri Lankan entrepreneur of the year in 2012. Nayana Dehigama also won the most-coveted Asia-pacific young entrepreneur award in 2010. He was the chairman of the Chamber of young Sri Lankan entrepreneurs, a leading local innovation society.

He also is a member of the department industry conservative board of the management of technology department at the University of Moratuwa. He also serves as the president of the committee for promoting technology entrepreneurship at the national science foundation of Sri Lanka.
While in the Kingswood arena, he was a well-known sportsman and participated in many extracurricular activities. He was a senior prefect in the college and junior scout cadet. Mother Kingswood is proud to have had him under her canopy and it helped him to achieve many heights in his career so far.
Sanath Wimalasiri – A versatile actor
An actor who has made his name in both theatre and on the silver screen. Considered as a highly versatile actor from drama to comedy, Kingswood is proud to produce another outstanding gentleman with a sublime talent. Apart from a skilled actor, he is also a popular TV host and a singer.

Born in the city of Mathale, he was initially educated at St Thomas college, Kandy. He joined the Kingswood to pursue his A/L studies. While in the college, he participated in many stage plays and dramas. From then on he began to unleash his hidden talents in acting and dancing. At that time, he was taught under the guiadance of Mrs. Amitha Rabbidigala, who was in charge of the drama subject.
Joining Ediriwera Sarathchandra’s theater group
After completing college, he joined the famous Ediriwera Sarathchandra’s theater group. He was selected to play main roles in acclaimed plays such as Maname and Sinhabahu. His first appearance on television was in the serial nadayo tv series. His cinematic entrance was marked with 2003 hit Sonduru Dadabima. As a comedian, he appeared in the movie, Sir Last Chance. He contributed to more than twenty stage plays and has appeared in about thirty-five teledramas.
He also works as a visiting lecturer at Sri Jayawardnapura university and as an external lecturer at the Faculty of Education. The University of Colombo. He won the award for best actor, in the youth award festival in 1996. He won the silver award for “Best upcoming actor” in Sumathi Awards.
Sumith Kularatne – A wondrous innovator
A superior inventor of Kingswood who has transformed the name of Kingswood overseas and beyond with his talents and dedications in scientific research. He is the vice president of Research and Development in Target Laboratories, West Lafayette, IN.
His company specializes in designing equipment for inflammatory diseases such as Cancer. He has contributed to the development of drugs and diagnostic methods for cancers such as lung cancer, prostate cancer, ovarian cancer, and breast cancer. He is currently working on developing a cocktail for non-small cell lung cancers for identifying them.
Sumith Kularatne steps in to Kingswood
Born in Kandy, he stepped into his alma-mater Kingswood, after passing through the grade 5 scholarship exam. He was a highly versatile gentleman at Kingswood where he excelled in both academics and sports. Sumith Kularathne was a gold athlete and a soccer player where he was the captain of the team. He was also a talented cricketer, representing the school at both the district and national levels. He is a college colors man and was a part of the college’s choir.
Dr. Sumith Kularathna’d PhD research
Dr. Sumith Kularathna studied for his Phd in the Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA, USA. His subjects were conducted on focusing the diminishing of primary tumor masses, metastatic cancers, and cancer stem cells using antibody drug conjugates or bispecific antibodies. He earned the Phd in organic medicine from the University of Purdue, LA.
Dr. Sumith Kularathna’s work
He has more than 25 patents under his name in the medical field. Also has written more than 25 publications regarding the health sector and avidly contributes for multiple international journals. He is well known for conducting ground-breaking researches regarding the medical field which is now used in the industry.
He works collaboratively with pharmaceutical companies such as On Target laboratories, Endocyte and Ambrex. The gentleman has developed more than 10 drugs for cancer treatments and researches. He still works tirelessly on designing and developing treatments for cancer patients. We salute this outstanding gentleman of Kingswood, who has carried the name of his alma-mater world over with pride.
Supun Rashinda Jayawardena – An unflinching wisdom
This amazing gentleman of Kingswood proves the statement “Nothing is impossible” with some unparalleled achievements to his name. Born with a visual impairment, he was gone blind at the age of five. But that could not stop him from being an attorney-at-law in the University of Colombo.
His angelic story starts in our own Kingswood backyard. Entering the college in 1994, he got through the grade 5 examination with flying colours. He passed the O/Ls with nine distintions and continued his tremendous form until he got selected to the faculty of law, in the University of Colombo.
Supun Rashinda wins awards
In the university he left his mark like no one did before. There he won a studentship award for higher performance and his academic brilliance. In the second year he was awarded the H.N.G Fernando Memorial prize for academic excellence. Then he went on to win the C.G Weerarathne prize for Public and International law and P.H.D Karunathilake award for outstanding performance. He received the gold medal for being the most outstanding student of the year in his fourth year.
Supun Rashinda became a scout
While at the college he was an active scout who participated in many adventurous camps Supun Rashinda Jayawardena was the only gentleman in the college with a disability who did scouting. He switched to brail media under the guidance of Mr. Lalth Dissanayake who was in charge of special students. Then, he flourished in academics surpassing even the normal gentlemen with his amazing performance. He will go down as one of the most extraordinary gentlemen Kingswood has ever produced and forever remembered for his academic supremacy and unflinching courage.
