History of the main hall.
The main hall was built around 1898 with the generous support of the school’s foreign admires. Back then it was a small apartment that was used to have the morning assembly. From time to time it has undergone major renovations under different principles. The most notable upgrade was adding the balcony. The balcony was added to the school to meet its demanding staff and students.
Under the guidance of the late principal, Mr. Rabukwella the project began. Financial support was given by the school’s old boys and past pupils. With the advice from one of the school’s old boys Mr.David Edirisinghe, an engineer, a beautiful and grand-looking balcony was completed along with a round wooden staircase. Today, the gentlemen of Kingswood have their Main hall with a balcony, fulfilling the dreams of its ancestors and founders.
