Sri Sumangala College is one of the famous national schools in the Western province. It is also one of the prominent national schools that mould talented and knowledgeable gentlemen to the society such as Sri Lankabimanya W D Amaradeva. SSCOBA or the Sri Sumangala College OBA is one of the most active OBAs in Sri Lanka.
The First Step
The OBA started on the twenty-eighth of October in Nineteen Twenty Two https://sumangalaoba.com/. Mr Abeyseela Ginige, the principal established the association. Since then many old boys contributed their maximum to develop and uplift the school’s nobility.
The generous donation
The SSCOBA has made a generous contribution to the General Hospital of Panadrura on Seventh July 2021. The Covid-19 pandemic has become a worldwide struggle. And Sri Lanka is also struggling with a lack of medication and aids. SSCOBA has contributed to help the medical services to fight with Covid-19.
The old boys of Sri Sumangala College have donated Multi-Parameter Patient Monitor to the Pandura Base hospital. The machine is LKR Two hundred seventy-five thousand worth. Mr Dinesh Ketiparachchi, the treasurer and the Exco Member Mr Rajeev Fernando handed over the machine to the hospital staff. This project was carried forward under the guidance of the OBA president Mr Mahesh Fonseka.
SSCOBA has set up a great example to the community by doing such a valuable contribution. Also, encourage the rest of the community to support the medical teams to fight more strongly with the Covid 19 pandemic.
Donation by Mr Anurath Abeyratne
In addition to this, the Past President of SSCOBA Mr Anurath Abeyratne. He is the Chairman of Anunine Holdings & KSPA Packaging (Pvt) Ltd. He donated a PCR Machine to the Base Hospital in Panadura in June.
These events significantly depict that Sumangala College has created great gentlemen who are concerned about society and believe joy is the result of wisdom that vividly proves the college motto.
